The last 2 weeks Jax has been fighting a gnarly case of impetigo.  It started out on his face, and since he has a serious love for sucking his hands, quickly spread ALL over his hands.  I had just taken him to the Dr. on Friday for his 9 month check-up.  But, by Monday morning, we were back at the doctor for a new issue.  How fun.  My poor little buddy had to just take some medicine and it would "clear up very quickly" - according to the doctor.

Well, Jax HATED the nasty tasting medicine.  So, for about 4 days I had to fight him twice a day to choke down any medicine at all.  I was pretty sure that he wasn't getting near the correct dose, and the ever spreading impetigo was proof that I was right.  So, after talking to my mom, she saved the day - as mom's usually do.  She sent me home with a big 'ol thing of Hershey's syrup.  I dumped a bunch into the medicine bottle, and Jax hasn't complained about the medicine since!  Ha ha..

I seriously have felt weird taking Jax into public the last 2 weeks.  I feel like people are like, "Get that diseased kid out of here.  I don't want him passing that stuff around!"  But, he's not contagious, just freaky looking.  Last weekend we were at a family party and my cousin Bobby grabbed a napkin and started scrubbing Jax's chin because he thought he was roaming around with food all over his face.  It was pretty funny when my mom and I broke him the news that it wasn't going to be coming off!  Poor little Jax.

Well, 2 weeks later, the impetigo isn't totally gone yet.  What was all that "clear up very quickly" business all about?  Sadly, the pictures above are actually not the impetigo at its' worst.

You Know You're Old When...

You can ride a bike!
9 Months Old
30 1/4 inches long (95th percentile)
21 pounds 11 ounces (75th percentile)

Today, Jax is 9 months old.  I can't believe it.  When I think about the last 9 months, I can't help but smile.  Oh, how my life changed 18 months ago.

I can still remember the day perfectly that I found out I was pregnant.  Just before I took the pregnancy test, Chase voiced his doubts about it.  He didn't think I was pregnant.  I pretty much cried wolf, I guess you could say, and took pregnancy tests quite often.  But, I kinda felt like this time I had a chance...and I was right!  Chase about died when I showed him the positive sign.  He was speechless - literally.  We said we weren't going to tell anyone for 3 months.  But, by the next morning, everyone we had ever known knew.  Now, we couldn't be happier to have baby Jax in our home.

9 months old is a pretty crazy time.  You can't turn your head for 10 seconds.  This little man is a full-time job, that is for sure.  Now that he is a master crawler and pulls himself up to everything (toilets included), I have to keep a close eye on him if I don't want to go to the emergency room.  I didn't realize how active a baby could be.

In the last 9 months I think my heart has grown 100 times.  I don't think you understand the unconditional love you can have for your child until you become a parent - not to mention how my love for Chase has grown watching him become a dad.

Oh baby Jax, these last 9 months have been much more enjoyable than the 9 months before when I carried you in my belly. :)

Due to long lines today, all Obama voters are asked to vote on WEDNESDAY.
Thank you!

More Halloween Festivities

Jax and his cousins - Roen and Milo.  Halloween was actually Milo's due date.  But, thanks to modern medicine, he is a week old in this picture.  And don't even think that Milo will wake up for this picture!
Family Photo.  Chase and I are like REALLY into fitness. :)
The little dragon and Grandma Gundy
Uncle Beau and Uncle Drew - Jax is VERY fond of these two.
After all the Halloween events, we had one sleepy dragon.
**PS Check out Jax's foot size.  The truth is that this picture is not deceiving AT ALL.  He's got one large foot.  He is definately his mother's son...
